How it is scored

One point for every statement judged correctly, out of 37, and nothing deducted for a wrong answer. Skipped statements score nothing and cannot be returned to. The run ends when the clock runs out or when the last statement is answered, whichever comes first.

The tab you have open when you answer is recorded and shown at the end, so you can see how often you were looking in the right place. It never changes the score. Every miss is listed afterwards with the answer, the tab that held the evidence and the figures that settle it.

Where we had to choose

Aon's own practice material describes the format: six tabs, one company, statements judged true, false or cannot say. The count and the clock are reported rather than published: 37 statements in 12 minutes is the figure prep sites and candidates most consistently give, and it is what the drill uses. No marking scheme is published and no negative marking is reported, so a point per correct answer is our choice.

Prep sites report that the real test loses the point when the wrong tab is open at the moment of answering. That is a report, not something Aon says, so the drill records the open tab and tells you afterwards rather than marking you down for it. The roughly even split between true, false and cannot say is ours too; nobody publishes the real one.

How to work through one

Read the six tab names before the first statement, so you know where each kind of fact lives. The statement usually names its tab: revenue is Income, headcount is Employees, a forecast is Outlook. If the fact is not on any tab, the answer is cannot say, however plausible the statement sounds: a reason for a change, a rival's profit, a year the tables do not cover. Twenty seconds a statement means you never compute more than one figure; if a statement seems to need two, one of them is already on the tab.
