Common questions
Who is this tracker for?
School students in Years 10 to 13, including sixth form and college. It lists work experience, insight programmes and apprenticeships you can apply to before university, and each listing shows the school years it's open to.
When do applications open?
Throughout the school year. Many banks and professional firms open spring and summer work experience applications in the autumn and winter, and apprenticeship intakes typically open in the autumn of your final school year. The tracker picks up each opening within minutes of it going live.
What's the difference between work experience and an apprenticeship?
Work experience and insight programmes are short (usually a few days to two weeks) and designed to show you what a career is like. Apprenticeships (including degree apprenticeships) are paid, multi-year roles you start after school instead of, or alongside, a traditional degree.
Should I apply early or wait?
Apply early. Many firms review on a rolling basis and close once they have enough strong candidates. The first few weeks of a window are usually less competitive than the final deadline.
How fresh are the openings?
The tracker checks employers every few minutes and new schemes usually appear within minutes of going live on the firm's careers site.
