Listing policy

How listings get on simplytk, and who pays for what

Where every opening on the tracker comes from, what we never do (sell placement, hide sponsored rows, guess deadlines), how corrections are handled and how the site makes money.

Where openings come from

Most rows are read straight off the employer's own careers system (Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, Ashby and the firm-specific boards) every few minutes. A row like that shows "confirmed live" with the time we last saw it there.

A smaller set comes from an aggregator feed as a safety net, so we are never slower than the aggregators on the firms we do not scrape first-hand. Those rows are labelled as aggregator sourced until the firm's own board carries them, at which point the first-hand scraper takes over.

Students and admins can submit an opening we missed. Submitted rows say so, and are checked against the employer's page before they go live.

What we never do

No employer pays to be listed, ranked higher, or marked in any way. There is no sponsored row and no promoted placement. Rows an aggregator tags as promoted are filtered out before import.

We do not invent deadlines. A deadline is shown when the source states it or when enrichment reads it with enough confidence; otherwise the row says there is no stated deadline, and a low-confidence reading carries an unverified marker.

We do not keep expired postings in the index. A closed listing leaves the tracker and the sitemap the moment the board drops it, and its page says it has closed.

How corrections work

Every row has a report link. A report is checked against the employer's page automatically, then by a person where the page is ambiguous. If the listing is wrong it is fixed or closed; if it matches, the report is dismissed and nothing changes.

The counts (reports received, listings corrected, median time to check) are published on the stats page, so you can see whether reporting is worth your time.

How the site makes money

The tracker, alerts, calendar, digest, drills and firm pages are free. Revenue comes from the passes, the playbooks and the human reviews. None of it changes what is listed or where.

A week of the pass is given for inviting friends. It unlocks the paid layer; it never affects a listing.

See the numbers behind this on the detection and corrections stats page, or report a listing from any row on the tracker.
