- Format
- One untimed online sitting after the short application form (AtkinsRéalis takes no CV or cover letter for early careers roles), the same for graduates, placements and apprentices. The selection pages describe interactive exercises, including cognitive tasks on how you approach problems and process information; the firm's 2024 preparation blog describes a day in the life: situational judgement questions, numerical and verbal reasoning questions, and three short video answers at the end. Candidates describe scenarios answered as a most and least pick of four, maths read off emails and graphs with a calculator allowed, true, false or cannot say verbal items, and in accounts to 2025 three recorded video questions. A live interview on Microsoft Teams with two interviewers follows, usually with a short business presentation to prepare; summer placements get a matching call with the business instead of an interview.
- Timing
- About 45 minutes by AtkinsRéalis's own figure and up to an hour by its blog, in one sitting, with no clock on any step; prep sites add that speed still counts towards the cognitive score. Prep sites put it at about 25 items, around 12 situational, around 10 numerical and verbal, and up to 3 written or video questions, with two minutes to record each video answer and one take. One application per recruitment campaign, a practice version on the Candidate Preparation Zone, extra time and a change of format on request, and an answer within two weeks of the interviews closing.
- What is uncertain
- Whether there are video questions: the current selection and FAQ pages say there are no video interview questions in this assessment, the firm's own 2024 blog and candidate accounts to 2025 describe three at the end, and a 2026/27 prep guide calls the video a separate part two. Prepare for them and do not be surprised when they are absent. The provider: AtkinsRéalis names none, the practice zone runs on a Preparation Plus domain, and prep sites name Amberjack, whose blended Future Potential assessment is the same shape; neither names the other. No counts, marking or pass mark are published. Applicants in the 2026 cycle reported a business review stage after passing, with waits of up to three months before an interview, which the official pages do not mention.
