UBS inductive reasoning
Built by Aon
- Format
- Aon's scales ix, sat as part of the UBS cognitive assessment alongside a numerical test. Nine tiles of abstract shapes, eight obeying a hidden rule and one breaking it, and you pick the one that breaks it. Items get harder as you go.
- Timing
- Aon's format is most consistently described as 20 items in 5 minutes, about fifteen seconds each, and you are not expected to reach the end. UBS sittings have also been reported at 6 minutes.
- What is uncertain
- UBS publishes neither the item count nor the clock, and the accounts disagree: 20 in 5 minutes, 6 minutes, and 12 in 12 minutes all appear, the last of which is probably the numerical test rather than this one. Nobody agrees on whether wrong answers are deducted either. Aon's own guidance describes answering as many correctly as you can and mentions no penalty, so our version deducts nothing and says so.
- How to practise
- Inductive Reasoning is built on this format, and Data Statements on the numerical test sent alongside it.
